Event Details

This series includes 12 weekly classes on Mondays from 6-7:30 pm, beginning March 4 and concluding on May 20. Attendance at all classes is not mandatory!


In each class, Grace Zhao will present basic Mandarin Chinese vocabulary in a cultural context.  Participants will practice greetings and common phrases for eating, shopping, traveling & making phone calls. She will also discuss traditional Chinese
customs and celebrations.

 

Classes are designed for individuals who are planning to travel or do business in China, as well as those who just want to learn more about the Mandarin Chinese language and Chinese  culture.

 

A $25 series fee will be collected online or at the first class to support instruction and other costs.


Grace Zhao

Grace Zhao is from The People’s Republic of China. She has been teaching
Mandarin
Chinese in New Haven for more than 7 years, and helped to
originate this series in cooperation with Yale University’s Council on Far East Studies.

The Main (Ives) branch of the New Haven Free Public Library system is located at 133 Elm St., across from the New Haven Green, corner of Elm and Temple. Yale Lot #51 on Temple Street (across the street from the library) opens to the public at 4pm, and there are 2-hour parking meters on streets surrounding the library.
